Welcome to your Crosby Commnity Meltdown Maniac News

With 66% of Americans being overweight, there is a huge demand to educate our community on how to stay healthy, the common sense way. These individuals need to understand the need to accomplish a healthier lifestyle, without fad diets. They need to start receiving plain and simple information on how to eat to burn fat and how to make wise choices for themselves and their families.

One stick fallen off a tree is weak and can be easily broken. However, when a bunch of sticks are tied together, the sticks are difficult to break. We are much Stronger Together and Together we can change our community, one face at a time, while becoming healthier ourselves.

My name is Shelia Hall and I have been in the Health Industry for over 11 years. My journey of becoming educated about fitness and health began because of my own poor health. The more I became educated about my own body, the larger my desire grew to learn more.

I am very passionate about bringing the truth to our Community. My mission is educate everyone through our Community Meltdowns. Yes, I am a Meltdown Maniac and I own two Curves fitness locations.

We hope that you enjoy our blog and will attend our meetings. For more information, call 281.328.4600. Either my friendly staff or I will be more than happy to assist your journey to becoming healthier and fit.

Valentine Yummies

Ok I found a recipe you guys may enjoy for Valentines.

Here it is:

Coconut Macaroons

Makes about 40 Macaroons

Cooking Oil Spray
10 egg whites
2 cups unsweetened dried shredded coconut
2 cups plain quick-cooking oats
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup of Splenda or I prefer Xlitol (looks like and tast like real sugar)
1/2 teasp of salt
2 tablespoons bittersweet chocolate morsels
1 teaspoon trans-fat-free soft-tub margarine. ( I like smart balance)

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 3 baking sheets with cooking spray; set aside. Stir egg whites, coconut, oats, vanilla, sugar and salt in a bowl until well blended. Drop tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets, half an inch apart. Bake macaroons until light golden, 12 to 15 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely. Place chocolate morsels and margarine (smart balance) in a glass bowl or measuring cup. Microwave on high until chocolate melts completely, 40 to 50 seconds, or melt in a 350 degree oven 5 to 6 minutes. ( Do not overheat chocolate or it will scorch). Dip a metal teaspoon into warmed chocolate and gently drizzle chocolate over cookies in a zigzag pattern. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 3 days.

The Skinny
52 calories per macaroon, 1.9 g fat(1.3 g saturated), 7.4 g carbs, 0.8 g fiber, 1.6 g protein.

Remember Moderation with this Yummy treat.

Happy Valentines

Love you
Shelia
